Bowerston Brick

Founded in 1929,The Bowerston Shale Company incorporates the latest engineering and manufacturing techniques into brick production, beginning with the mining of select fire clay and shale from its own mines.

Colours are created by blending the fire clay and shale to produce red or buff coloured brick; flashing (to produce deep shades of colour), and adding special minerals to the clay and shale to create shades of brown, buff or gray coloured brick. A ceramic coating is also applied to certain shades in the extrusion process to achieve unique colours and textures.

Bowerston brick meets and exceeds ASTM standards for high compressive strength, low absorption, and no efflorescence.

Bowerston brick offers a wide selection of shades, sizes (including Metric) and textures, with the colour consistency, and size parameters that meet tight tolerances and special matching requirements.

Bowerston's architectural specialties and design department can create custom brick shapes and sculptures that give unlimited possibilities to building design.
